Dreamweaver Stencil Color Challenge…

Good morning!!  What a “challenge” we had this week!!  Orange & Blue…yikes, the only thing that would come to mind is the Denver Bronco’s.  If I would have had a helmet stencil, I would have used my horse stencil and made it happen.

For my Orange and Blue card, I started with some inspiration from Brenda Weaver.  She had made a fabulous simple sketch that I wanted to try and I chose Heliconia Butterfly(LM257) and Butterfly(LM121).

I started off by paste embossing both butterfly stencils with Matte Black Embossing Paste.  Once dry, I placed the stencils back in place over the embossed image.  With a stencil brush, using a stippling technique, I placed Palette Glue pad over the embossed images.  I then stippled Navajo Sky Metallic FX over the glue.

Once I was done with my Metallic FX, I sprayed Copper Shimmer Memory Mist over the images and the paper.  This was not that good if a plan.  With a paper towel, I daubed off the excess shimmer spray from the butterfly’s and some of the pretty FX came off.  I then placed my stencils back in place and started over again with my Palette Glue Pad and my Metallic FX.  This is a pretty card in person with a fabulous shimmer.  I finished all off by stamping the cute little butterflies from Garden Beauty and the sentiment from Daisy Stem Trio sets both from Stampendous.

My next card is one I made to send as a greeting.  I am so in love with this new Royalty Couture Creations Embossing Folder, I had to pair it up with Happy Mother’s Day(LM227).

Easy enough….I embossed the cardstock and stenciled Happy Mother’s Day on acetate with Glossy Black Embossing Paste.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and taking a look.

Please take the time to play along and post your creation on Dream It Up.

Be sure to check out what the other members of the Design Team have created today.  All of their fabulous blogs are listed to the right of this post.

Have a great day!!

Great cards Wendy, the butterflies are beautiful. I really like the idea of drawing the black line around the edge too!

I want to see those butterflies in person! So hard to capture all the gorgeous shimmer in a photograph. I love how you embossed the sentiment on acetate for the second card. Very cool.

Great job on both cards, Wendy. I know how hard it is to photograph anything that shimmers, so I'll bet the butterfly card is stunning.
