Stampendous Upcycled, Recycled or Reused April Challenge!!

The stupendous Stampendous  gals are at it again this week...recycling, repurposing, and reusing for the month of April! Nothing hits the "round file" this month, and everything is fair game to be stamped, cut, encrusted, and Fran•taged!

This week to find my inspiration, I raided my husbands work truck and found some dry wall tape, Haha!!!!
I started out thinking I wanted to mist the background to create a “net” like look.  Once I applied the dry wall tape, I decided I liked it.  So there it is.
I colored up one of the ♥NEW♥ darling Stampendous Kiddo images, Cling Mermaid Kiddo with Copic Markers.

Stampendous42812

The sentiment is from a great Stampendous set called Happy Messages.  The sentiment is placed on dry wall tape folded over each other.
I applied some Zip Dry above the sentiment and added Stampendous Fresh Green and Steel Blue Glass Glitter, Shaved Ice and Multi Medium Crystal Glitter.

For more upcycled, recycled and reused inspiration, check out these amazing gals!!!

Stampendous Saturday, Recycled, Repurposed & Reused April Challenge continues…

The stupendous Stampendous  gals are at it again this week...recycling, repurposing, and reusing for the month of April! Nothing hits the "round file" this month, and everything is fair game to be stamped, cut, encrusted, and Fran•taged!

For our recycled, reused, and repurposed challenge I dug through my scraps and found two great pieces of Glossy Black cardstock (man I love this stuff)

I whipped up a concoction of Acrylic Glazing Liquid, Iridescent Pearl Heavy Body Acrylic and mica powder.  I swirled my brew around on a craft mat to mix thoroughly and applied a thin layer with a brayer over one piece of Glossy Black paper.

Stampendous42112(recycled)

While the mixture was still wet, I stamped the beautiful flourish from the brand spankin’ new Cling Jumbo Cottage Rose set (see below) into the mixture.  The stamp picked up the beautiful sparkle of the mixture and I stamped that down on another piece of glossy black cardstock.

This technique was very simple and fun.  The possibilities are endless.  Drying time for the “mixture'” was roughly 20 minutes, maybe less.

Get ready to be inked, pasted, encrusted, stenciled and stamped! All of this week the Dreamweaver Stencils' Dream Team and the Stampendous Design Teams will be providing some "Dream-pendous" inspiration for you, with multiple opportunities to win some fabulous prizes from both companies. Each day this week, you will be directed from both the Stampendous Impressions' blog or the Dream It Up! blog to the players

du jour for your oohing and aaahing pleasure. Everyone will be playing on Saturday, the 14th with our final hop for the week. This is your opportunity to see how to mix and mingle your creativity...if you are a stenciler, you will be fascinated at combining stamps with your first love. If you are a stamper, you will be wowed at how stencils can add to your impressions.

Stampendous’ April Challenge is to recycle, repurpose or reuse around the house and incorporate it into your creation this month!  It just so happens that I made a fabulous frame out of an empty cereal box, applied embossing ink on the surface and heat embossed Aged Bronze Embossing Enamel.  It was the perfect start to getting this project jump started!!

I stamped Stampendous! newly released Cling Conservatory with Versafine Vintage Sepia on Kraft paper. I inked the edges and embossed Dreamweaver’s Diamond Grid stencil over the top of the stamped image.

Before embossing, I applied embossing ink to the back of the stencil and embossed with a die cutting machine the stencil into the stamped area.  What was left, was my stamped image with embossing ink in a diamond grid pattern.  I sprinkled Stampendous Detail Gold Embossing Powder over the image and applied heat.

With Dreamweaver Stencils Metallic Gold Embossing Paste, I pasted the “Fly Away” sentiment from the Bird Words (LG734) stencil.

I stamped the sentiment from the Tea Time with Cocoa Clear Stamp set.

Stampendous & Dreamweaver Stencils BLOG WEEK!!!

If you are a stamper, you will be wowed at how stencils can add to your impressions.

The Stampendous Cling Jumbo Steampunk Balloon (CRS5036) and the Dreamweaver Gears Stencil (LJ911) go together hand in hand!!

I stamped the Steampunk Balloon with Versafine Spanish Moss ink on the front card panel.  Using a Vagabond and the Gears stencil, I dry embossed the Gears into cream confetti cardstock.  I laid the stencil down onto the craft mat and applied embossing ink to the entire surface of the stencil.  I laid the embossing ink side up in the Vagabond’s platform, layered the cardstock, the Stamping Details Rubber Mat, and two acrylic plates and put it through the machine. When the cardstock came through the machine, the embossing ink that I applied then transferred to the cardstock and I was able to apply Stampendous Detail Gold Embossing powder to the debossed areas.

Dreamweaver-STMBlogWeek-(2)

I tore colored cardstock for the layers and sentiment panel.  I stamped the sentiment from the Stampendous Time Flies Perfectly Clear Stamp Set and added an clock pendent that I bought in the jewelry making section of our local craft store.

Stampendous Saturday April Challenge!! Reuse, Recycle or Repurpose!

Woohoo! It's the first Saturday in April, and that means the Stampendous team has a brand new challenge for you. This month, in honor of Earth Day, we are challenging ourselves (and you) to make something that uses product(s) that are recycled, repurposed, or reused in some way. The possibilities are endless! Snazz up a household item and turn it into something beautiful, use something unexpected on your card, or even just use up some scraps you've had in your stash forever (that's recycling, right?!?)

I had to think about this one for a long time.  I finally decided on a fun technique that I had never tried before requiring, yep, toilet paper.   You can see more about paper casting with rubber stamps.

Stampendousrecycled
I started with 10 single sheets of Charmin, placed them in  a shallow dish with enough water to get the TP a good soak.  I carefully lifted the toilet paper and placed it on Cling Clock Work (CRR141), a soon-to-be released stamp from Stampendous!!

With a dry towel, I pressed into the toilet paper, pressing the impression into the wet toilet paper.  I left the paper on the stamp until I felt that the paper was dry enough until remove it without disturbing the impression.

After two days, the toilet paper was finally dry enough to add color too.  I stitched the “paper casted” impression to a piece of kraft paper that was coffee spritzed with warm water and instant coffee.

I applied embossing in to the die cut gears and heat embossed Aged Black and Aged Gold Embossing Enamels.

Here is a closer look…

Stampendousrecycled(2)

You can see in this photograph, I have another bit of recycled and reused material.  If you see where the arrow is pointing there is a piece of metal that fell out of my Big Shot Machine as I was breaking it.  I new this piece would come in handy one day!!!

This is a sneak peek of two new sets coming out later this month from Stampendous, Guys and Gears Perfectly Clear (SSC1145) set and Cling Clock Works (CRR141).  You will see them on the Stampendous! site soon.

Ready to see some more?  Here is the whole list of my fantastic teammates, who are sharing some fabulous inspiration with you today:

Dreamweaver Stencils “Bring May Flowers” April Challenge!!

“April Showers Bring May Flowers” is how the saying goes.  I am hoping that is true here in Western Montana!!

This month, Dreamweaver Stencils challenges you to “Bring May Flowers”!  We want to see your creations using Dreamweaver Stencils Flower images.  There is a huge selection to choose from at Stencil With Style, a website that carries all of Dreamweaver Stencils products.  Every stencil…EVERYTHING!!!

I love Poppies and I equally am in love with the new January 2012 release, Tall Poppies (LL3023).

Dreamweaver4512(2)

I colored the image with a technique called the Double Glitter Technique.

I started by applying Hawaiian Coconut All Natural Soap on the back of my stencil.  Applying coconut soap generously to the stencil, ensures that the stencil will release from the Double Sided Mounting Paper

Place soaped stencil, soap side down on Double Sided Mounting Paper.  Ensure that the stencil is adhered to the adhesive paper.  If there are any loose edges, glitter could get where you don’t want it and you will not have a crisp clear image.

Once the stencil is adhered, start placing glitter where desired.  Continue on coloring with the glitter.   Go over the stencil and glitter with a Glitter Magnet, to pick up all the excess glitter.  It is important to pick up all the excess before removing the stencil.  Once the stencil is lifted all the excess will settle on the open,  unprotected area of the mounting paper.

Remove stencil and pour a white or transparent glitter on the area that is now exposed.

I’d love to see your take on the Double Glitter Technique!!

Thanks for taking a peek at my “Bring May Flowers” Challenge post.
