“April Showers Bring May Flowers” is how the saying goes. I am hoping that is true here in Western Montana!!
This month, Dreamweaver Stencils challenges you to “Bring May Flowers”! We want to see your creations using Dreamweaver Stencils Flower images. There is a huge selection to choose from at Stencil With Style, a website that carries all of Dreamweaver Stencils products. Every stencil…EVERYTHING!!!
I love Poppies and I equally am in love with the new January 2012 release, Tall Poppies (LL3023).
I colored the image with a technique called the Double Glitter Technique.
I started by applying Hawaiian Coconut All Natural Soap on the back of my stencil. Applying coconut soap generously to the stencil, ensures that the stencil will release from the Double Sided Mounting Paper.
Place soaped stencil, soap side down on Double Sided Mounting Paper. Ensure that the stencil is adhered to the adhesive paper. If there are any loose edges, glitter could get where you don’t want it and you will not have a crisp clear image.
Once the stencil is adhered, start placing glitter where desired. Continue on coloring with the glitter. Go over the stencil and glitter with a Glitter Magnet, to pick up all the excess glitter. It is important to pick up all the excess before removing the stencil. Once the stencil is lifted all the excess will settle on the open, unprotected area of the mounting paper.
Remove stencil and pour a white or transparent glitter on the area that is now exposed.
I’d love to see your take on the Double Glitter Technique!!
