Dreamweaver Stencils February Flutters Challenge!!

Welcome to Dreamweaver Stencils February Flutter Challenge!!

This month the team is creating with anything that flutters.  Today I chose butterflies because I AM READY FOR SPRING.    We have about 10 feet of snow here in Western Montana and I am ready for some window open weather!!

I can't believe that I haven't tried this before, but today I used stencils with velvet paper in my die cutting machine.  I LOVE THE RESULTS!!!  I dry embossed the velvet paper with same way that I would have embossed regular paper.   My "embossing sandwich" is multi layer platform, stencil, paper, rubber embossing mat, TWO acrylic cutting plates.  I put the TWO cutting mats on last, so that  I don't accidentally bend my stencil.

I used a new release stencil from Dreamweaver Crusade LX7025:

I then went on to use the Double Glitter Technique on two different DW Butterfly Stencils:

Here is a step by step video tutorial using the Double Glitter Technique.

When I was done with the Double Glitter Technique, I cut my designs out and adhered them to my background in a 3D manner.

Obviously I wouldn't be able to mail this card in a traditional envelope, it could be mailed in one of those pizza box mailers, if you know what I am talking about.

I decided I was so happy with my creation, I put a frame behind it and placed in on my shelf in my craft studio/office.

I never make things for myself and all day I have been looking at this and love it more and more!!

Are you ready for some more Fluttering inspiration???

Quietfire Designs Queen of Hearts Blog HOP!!!

Welcome to the day three of the Quietfire Designs Queen of Hearts Event!

For those of you that read my blog regularly, you see the same words a lot.  Quick, easy, simple.
Here I go again, I chose an easy  home decor piece,  using a Suzanne Cannon Silhouette Cutting File.

This is how my kiddo's will find part of their Valentines treats!!!

I started my Valentine project with a charger from the sale bin at a craft store, a roll of white Oracal 651 Vinyl,  Transfer Tape and a Silhouette Cameo (not pictured).

In Silhouette Cameo software, I opened up the files that I wanted to cut, the files I chose from Suzanne Cannon's  Silhouette Store are You Stole My Heart Calligraphy and Heart Flourish.  I was able to manipulate the sizes of the designs as well as how many flourishes I wanted for the project also.  I placed it on the virtual cutting mat where I wanted it to cut.

After I finished weeding.  Weeding is removing all of the unwanted vinyl from around your characters.  In the above photo I have placed transfer tape over  the top of the design  to make placing the image in its appropriate place very simple.

Once I have my design where I want it I can remove the transfer tape, which is a  medium tack, so it comes off of everything nicely.

Complete.  Sitting on my counter, waiting for the BIG DAY!!!

Love, Love, Love You Forever!!!!!! Quietfire Designs !! Perfect for Valentines Day!!

Oh how I love Valetines Day!!  I love all the "lovin" going on.  I love pink, hearts and just "lovin" on people!!!

Making Valentines Day cards kind of comes pretty easy to me.  Quietfire Designs new release, Calligraphic Love Bits made the card I had in mind perfect!!  The smaller sentiments fit exactly where I wanted on this smaller card or what could be a gift tag.

The card from was created using Spellbinders Nested Heart die.  I cut the die with a die cutting machine and then dry embossed the shape using a rubber mat and a die cutting machine.

While the patterned paper was still in the die, I rubbed Ranger Distress Ink Walnut Stain over the die (that was acting like a stencil) onto the paper.    I then stamped the "love you forever" sentiment with brown pigment ink and heat embossed detail clear embossing powder.

Onto the another piece of patterned paper,  I traced around the nesting die again and cut it out by hand to it was just a bit bigger than the die cut.  Using adhesive dimensional I adhered the card front to the card back.

With a two inch piece of kraft card stock, I scored a 1/2 inch edge to adhere to the back of my card panel to create a sentiment panel.  I stamped the smaller fun little sentiments and beautiful heart to the inside.
