Today I am sharing a new Stampendous Cling Jumbo Romantic Border Set (CRS5021).

I followed a fun sketch from Card Patterns…

This card was simply made with a few instructions.

1.  Stamp focal images with embossing ink and emboss with Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  Cut border images into four equal pieces.  Cut focal image by trimming close to the edge of image.  2.  Cut card stock base as desired.  Cut patterned card stock to desired size for your mat.  3.  Place you four pieces of border at the edge of the mat. Tie ribbon around base and adhere focal image with dimensionals.

Easy Peasy!!!

Ink: Versamark (Tsukineko)

Paper: Kisses, Wallpaper Raven, Coconut Swirl (Bazzill Basics)

Dreamweaver Sketch Challenge Week!!!

Good morning!!  The Dreamweaver Design team is still eagerly anticipating the arrival of CHA so we can start sharing the new Dreamweaver Stencil Designs.  I can tell you, it will be worth the wait.  Only one more week my friends!!

For todays sketch, I chose Tall Wheat, LL3008 that has been sitting on my desk for some time and I have NEVER used.  Here in Montana, many gals have chose to use wheat stalks to decorate their home and make home décor.  This stencil has actually been a really good seller for me in my sales territory.

I chose to use the Faux Cloisonné technique.  Here are some simple instructions for you to follow so you can try.

1.  Tape stencil to your paper to ensure that the stencil will not shift while coloring your image.  Color your image with the desired coloring medium.  I chose Versa magic Chalk Inks and Brilliance Pigment inks both by Tsukineko. I applied color using stenciling brushes.  2.  Once you have completed your desired coloring, using a jumbo dauber, apply embossing ink over the colored image.  Remove the stencil and apply Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel.  I used Deep Impressions by Stampendous.  3. Heat enamel until melted.  While the original enamel is still hot, apply another coat, shake off excess and heat the enamel.  4.  The end result should be a smooth colored surface.  You can continue to layer your UTEE until the surface is smooth.  More layers will not damage your project. 5.  Stamp sentiment and tie ribbon and embellishments on.

Stampendous SNEAK PEEK mixed with May Arts

This week Stampendous and May Arts have collaborated to bring you a week of fabby inspiration!!

The Stampendous Design Team will be posting “sneak peeks” of new stamps that will debut at CHA next week.

Today I was inspired when I visited my Cyndi Bundy’s blog and she is having a fabulous sketch challenge. I had to play along.

I used new Perfectly Clear Set from Stampendous Charm Collection (available July 18th) with a beautiful two-toned ribbon by May Arts.

Stampendous is debuting a super cool, fabby fun new product called Mica Fragments (available August 1st).

You can see the Pearlized Mica Fragments on the butterflies wings.

This card was stamped simply on the smaller die cut by “kissing” the ink off the stamp before stamping on the background. The chandelier was stamped over the background images and then I assembled my card.

Dreamweaver Stencil Dream Scheme Thursday!!

Good morning!! Once again, Lynell Harlow, has provided the Dreamweaver Dream Team with FABULOUS new stencils which will be making their way to CHA in a few short weeks!! We have to keep these fabulous designs under wraps right now, but I have been busy designing some fabulous new creations, which puts me in the situation I was this morning. Busy, busy creating new samples and didn’t make a card for today’s post, BUT never fear. A few weeks ago, Lynell Harlow (Dream It Up) had posted a wonderful card made be the Elaine Benedict and it inspired me to make this card...

A bit different, but along the same lines as Elaine’s. I will be teaching three classes this month making this class in Montana. Fly over, join me!!!

To make the background I simply took black and turquoise colored aluminum and ran them through the Vagabond with LG709, Serendipity Flower and LJ808, Cathedral Windows stencils.

One the aluminum was embossed, I removed the stencil and sanded away the embossed color. The Serendipity Flower stencil was then cut out.

I used Silver Metallic Embossing Paste to paste the sentiment on black velvet paper.

I love this card, because it is simply elegant!

Stamps:  Aaahsome Fireworks (Stampendous)

Ink:  Tuxedo Memento Black, Versamark (Tsukineko), Copic Markers

Extras: Crystal Glitz Glitter (Elizabeth Crafts), Peel n Stick Sheets (Thermoweb), Blue Tinsel, Gold Tinsel, Red Tinsel, Detail White Embossing Powder (Stampendous)

Here are the easy instructions…

1.  Stamp focal image on white cardstock and cover with a clear, double sided adhesive sheet.  Cover image with translucent glitter and color with desired medium.

2.  Stamp background images and sprinkle desired embossing powder on each image.  Stamp and heat emboss sentiment.  Apply heat. 

3.  Adhere focal image with dimensional foam.

Ink: Copic Markers; Tombow Markers

Here are the easy instructions…

1.  Color focal image stamp with water based markers and stamp on white cardstock.  Stamp sentiment with dye ink.

2.  Fold card stock base and using your air compressor for Copic Markers, swipe the color in diagonal motions in red, white and blue. 

Pretty simple that one.

My next card is from Dreamweaver Stencils…

After I got my cards all finished, I realized that my Stampendous card and my Dreamweaver card were practically identical.

Anywhooo…

Stencils:  Celebrate Script LS90,  Fireworks LJ886 (Dreamweaver Stencils)

Paper:  Velvet Paper (The Paper Company), White Cardstock (Kelley Paper Company), acetate (Graphix)

Embossing Paste: Translucent, Glossy Red (Dreamweaver Stencils)

Extras: Glitter (Martha Stewart Crafts)

Here are easy instructions:

1.  Cut velvet paper to desired size, place the fireworks stencil on the velvet paper using the hinge technique with removable tape. 

2.  Paste the stencil with transluscent embossing paste and sprinkle different colors of glitter over different “explosions”.

3.  Paste sentiment on acetate.  Set all aside to dry.  Once dry, piece your card together!!

Dreamweaver Stencil Color Way Challenge Purple and Yellow

Good morning!! 

Welcome to Dreamweaver Stencils Dream Scheme Thursday!!  Today the lovely Laura Drahozal has chosen a Purple and Yellow color way challenge for us.

I was going a few different ways with this card, and when I got it all together, I was thinking that it was quite quirky.  I love the Double Glitter technique and I love Yellow matte paste on purple velvet.  I guess that’s why they call it a challenge!!

Stampendous Daisies….

Hi there…..quickie post today, to share my daughter’s birthday card I made for her a few weeks ago.

This was such a fun and easy card to make.  Here are some easy directions…

1.  Stamp your flowers on card stock twice and color with preferred color medium.

2.  Cut out one set of just the flower blossoms.  Cut down other set of colored flowers to be the size you need for your card base.

3.  Adhere cut flower blossoms to card front to give your flowers dimension.

4.  Stamp sentiment, matte card front to coordinating card stock and wahh—laaaa!!  Success!!!

Here are the supplies that I used on my card:

Stamps:  Daisy Stems (SSC1105) and Birthday Assortment (SSC1115) (Stampendous)

Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), YR15, 17, 18 (Copic Maker)

Dreamweaver Stencils Free Theme Week!!

Good morning!!

This week is Dreamweaver Stencils Dream Team’s Free Theme week and what that means is that we are free to create what our little heart desires!!  This week my heart desired to use sludge pasting and color a Zentangle.

My card today was fun and light and didn’t take long to make at all.  I chose three stencils, Celebrate Script(LS 90), Party Lanterns (LL550) and Mosaic Swirls (LJ901).

For my sludge pasting, I chose Glossy Red, Matte Orange and Matte Yellow.  I used Lynell Harlow’s “platform pasting” technique by taping down my stencil, making a hinge and adding another piece of tape to the top of my hinge.  I then used a “dollop” of each color of paste on the “platform”.  With my palette knife, I spread the paste like frosting on a cake.  I loved the end result.  I then pasted “Celebrate” with Glossy Red Paste.

Once my paste was dry, I spritzed with Bright Gold Memory Mist from Stewart Superior.  You can see where I got a couple of droplets in the corners.  I was upset at first, but after the card was complete.  I liked the effect.  That will teach me to continue spraying when I know the bottle is about gone!!

Since being introduced to Zentangle a few months ago by Design Team Sister Pam Hornschu and Lynell Harlow, I have bought four books and a slew of pens.  I am loving it way too much.  I also have three classes scheduled to show other’s how to Zentangle.

Here a card I made a few days ago…

I simply traced the Boot (LG660) with a Copic Multiliner Pen and started doodling in the inside of the stencil.  Once I had finished “Zentangling”, I started to color the images with the lightest color of Letraset Markers I had.  I used Letraset ProMarkers Rubber Stamping 1 set.

Welcome to Skipping Stones Design Sketch 81!! This week Latisha Yoast, June’s Sketch Artist, has designed such a fun circle card. I was so tempted to make another easel card, but I didn’t. Here is my card…

I used Chic Martini as my stamp choices this week. I love this set. It brings back so many memories of my girlfriends and I sitting on my sunny patio drinking our cares away with martini’s…dirty of course!! Ahhh….the difference a decade makes.

Dreamweaver Stencils Father’s Day Sketch Challenge!!

Good morning!!! 

Today Deborah March has brought us a FUN sketch to use for our Father’s Day themed cards. 

Making masculine cards with Dreamweaver Stencils has never been easier.  Dreamweaver has a lot of choices for male themes. 

The background that I chose for my card today is such a versatile stencil, it can be used for any occasion.

I started with LJ849, Bare Trees and a piece of gold aluminum.  I embossed the aluminum in a die cutting machine, using the same method that is used when embossing paper.  Once embossed, I simply sanded the raised top .

The Gold Leafing technique is so fun with such fabulous results.  I pasted embossed LM 2003, Fishing Fly with Gold Embossing Paste.  Once dry, I replaced the stencil over the dry paste and applied Palette Glue Pad to the entire surface.  Using my heat tool, I applied heat to the glue until it became tacky enough to stick to my finger.  I then placed gold leafing over the surface and whisked away all the precious gold pieces.

I chose the Cling Jumbo Tulip set for my project.

This is such a fabulous image, I wanted to keep the design simple.

Here are some the simple steps I took to make my card…

1. Stamp your image on white cardstock with a black ink you can color with. I chose to color my image with Tombow markers.

2. Cut out your image and set aside. Stamp the focal image again on your background card stock with an embossing ink. Sprinkle desired embossing powders over the embossing ink. I chose Ruby Red, Chinese Red and Clear Lemon, all from Stampendous. Heat with your heat tool.

3. Using a sponge finger dauber I added some color around the embossed image and used a brown ink to highlight the edges. Stamp your sentiment.

4. Go back to the cut out image and using dimensionals, adhere the image just a bit off center from the embossed background. Adhere to your card base and ~Tah-Dahh~

Card Stock: White (Kelly Paper Co.), Sunshine (Bazzill Paper Co.)

Good morning blogging friends!!

I love Dreamweaver Stencils Dream Scheme Thursdays FREE WEEK!! Not only because I can post any Dreamweaver creation that I have made, but I ♥LOVE♥ seeing what my design team sisters have made. Pssst….here is a secret….they are all wildly talented!!!

Back in April, my friend and owner of Dreamweaver Stencils Lynell Harlow, as well as Pam Hornschu traveled to Phoenix for an art show and were introduced to Zentangle. At first glance of the cards that they posted on their blogs, I was mind boggled and thought that their level of artistic talent was well over my head.

I didn’t give it another thought until I ran into a book about Zentangle at a local book store. I felt compelled to pick this book up and give it try. Here is my accomplishment….

Here are some simple tips to get you started with your first Zentangle card…

1. Use a stencil with an open area to “Zentangle” on.

2. Use a fine tipped, black pen such a Copic Multiliner 1, 03 or 05. Some other great pens are Sakura Micron 01.

3. Trace the outline of the stencil with your fine tipped pen. The Apron (LG736) Stencil is already divided into squares, so I didn’t have to divide the area’s where I would Zentangle.

4. I started “doodling” in each open area. I did have the Zentangle Basics Book to help me with doodling ideas. I found out that I am not the master doodler I thought I was. When I doodle, I doodle one design and in this case, that would make for a boring card.

I hope that you will give Zentangle a try. It is a relaxing way to get through the boring hunting and fishing shows my hardworking husband wants to watch at night!!

Since it is Free Theme Week, I am going to throw in another card that I made a while back and I just came across the picture in my camera.

Gosh I hope I haven’t posted this before…. Here are some simple instructions…

1. Paste embossed the Boot (LG660) with Regular Embossing Paste (DEP), and once the paste was dry, I replaced the stencil and colored it with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink (Tim Holtz).

2. Once I reached the desired color of the boot, I placed the Damask stencil (LJ907) precisely where and what I wanted pasted, masked off the rest of the area with removable tape and pasted the damask with Metallic Copper Embossing Paste (DCP).

3. After a few embellies and a stamped sentiment….project complete.

My Son??? Class of 2011….YIKES!!!

I can’t believe it!! My son is graduating from High School today!! So bittersweet!!! I am so proud of him and happy for him, but on the other hand, I want him to stay home and so we can fight with each other for the rest of your lives….just kidding!!!

Here is the card that I created for him….

I used the Dreamweaver Plaid Stencil (LX7002), sentiment stamp from Flourishes and the eagle stamp is from Sutter Enterprises. To make the plaid, I used the fabulous Glossy Blue and Metallic Gold Embossing paste (thanks for the great idea Lori Harris).

Here’s to you my SON!!! I love you and I couldn’t be prouder!!!!

Skipping Stones Design Feature Friday!!

Good morning!!

Today I am featuring an older stamp set from Skipping Stones Design called Home of the Brave. 

My son is graduating from High School tomorrow and has enrolled in the United States Army.  It has been on my mind a lot lately about what it takes to be an American Soldier and the thought process that was behind his deciding that the Army was right for him.

I am so proud of him for the decision he made.  It has not been very easy for me to watch this process. 

Today I made this card, using Home of the Brave by Skipping Stones Design…

The background was made using a resist technique and Tim Holtz Distress Stains.  First I stamped on my cardstock with Versamark and embossed Detail White Embossing Powder on them.  I then simply started daubing color from the Distress Stain wherever I wanted it.  The stains wiped off with a paper towel where I wanted to remove it from.  The Distress Stain dries quickly also.  I spritzed some beautiful gold shimmer of the entire background.  It wiped off with a paper towel where I wanted to remove it from.  I stamped the flag and sentiment.  It was that easy.

Dreamweaver Stencil Dream Scheme Thursday Color way Challenge!

Good morning!!!  Welcome to Dreamweaver Stencils Dream Scheme Thursday!  Today we have a beautiful color challenge by my friend Pam Hornschu.  Lavender and Gray.  Beeeeutiful!!!

Here is my card…

I started by creating a Scalloped Circle Easel card base.  Fun in itself.  I die cut a circle to fit inside of the card and one for the outside of the card.  The outside of the card, I stamped with Timeless Textures (Skipping Stones Design) and then pasted on top of the stamping with Dreamweaver Stencil’s Treble Clef (LM226).  The paste is a beautiful pearly lavender color that I easily made by mixing Pearlescent Paste and Purple Satin Metallic FX, also by Dreamweaver Stencils.

The inside of the card was simply stamped with the Cling Wavy Music Stamp (Stampendous) and the sentiment.

The outer rims of the card were decorated with Pewter and Lavender Liquid Pearls by Ranger.
